About Clerical Error Productions

On a remote island off the west coast of Ireland... it started with the 2018 Indy Fringe show the Pope Walks Into a Bar, Father Ned!

A parody and loving tribute to the ‘90s Irish sit com sensation Father Ted, the show was the top seller at the District cabaret.

Since then, the company has developed into a repertory troupe with an expanding and rotating cast taking the lead repeating roles of Father Ned Tully, Father Dermott McGuire, Mrs. O’Boyle, and Father Finn Flannagan, the off-kilter residents of the Perpendicular Island parochial house. They have performed to sellout crowds in Indianapolis and Columbus, Indiana.

Parodies written by Kate Duffy, produced by David Molloy, and musically scored by Blake Mellencamp include:

  • The Pope Walks Into a Bar, Father Ned! Indy Fringe 2018
  • The Pope Walks Into a Pub Harlequin Theatre, Columbus
  • Who’s Minding the Snapper? Indy Fringe Diva Fest 2019
  • Game of Crows: Winter’s Coming, Father Ned! Indy Fringe 2019
  • It’s a Pandemic, Father Ned! Recording on YouTube, July 2020
  • What We Do in the Pandemic Recording on You Tube, November 2020
  • It’s a Schlitz Crick COVID Christmas Recording on You Tube January 2021

Next up at Fringe 2021, Rocket In Your Pocket: Father Ned in Space, the Musical! The first fully scored and choreographed musical production.

The Clerical Error Production Cast

Kate Duffy – Mrs. O’Boyle

Kate is co-founder and head writer for Clerical Error Productions. Since retiring from the IUPUI Department of English, she has sung, danced, and acted her way through a variety of roles with various companies, but her favorite is the tea-slinging Mrs. O’Boyle.  Her plays have appeared in Diva Fest and Rocket in Your Pocket is her third Fringe show. Kate thanks the talented actors who bring their gifts to her goofy scripts and keep the character of Perpendicular Island alive.

David Molloy – General Jesuit

A familiar face to Indy theater goers over the years, David Molloy has appeared in productions and with companies too numerous to list. He is co-founder of Clerical Error Productions and casting coordinator for the Indiana Playwrights Circle. A resident of Brownsburg, David spends his time off stage volunteering with feline rescue groups.

Blake Mellencamp – Father Dermott McDermott

Blake is an English teacher who spends his free time performing music, writing, and, of course, acting at a Fringe near you.

Manny Casillas – Captain Jesuit

Manny is back with Clerical Error and his third Fringe Festival after previously playing Mrs. O’Boyle in Who’s Minding The Snapper? for Diva Fest and also appeared in What We Do In The Pandemic and Schlitz’s Crick. Other credits include Dear Brutus and Julius Caesar for Garfield Shakespeare Company, Much Ado About Nothing for BardFest, Squabbles (Epilogue Players), The Matchmaker (Buck Creek Players), Doctor Cerberus (Stageworthy Productions) and Lend Me a Tenor.

Kyrsten Lyster - Alien

Kyrsten Lyster is thrilled to be returning for another Clerical Error Productions show! She is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis Department of Theatre and has been featured in productions with Fonseca Theatre, Mud Creek Players, IndyFringe Theatre, Catalyst Repertory, StageWorthy Productions, Rapture Theatre, The District Theatre, Khaos Company Theatre, and Epilogue Players.

Cindye McDaniel – Choreographer

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Cindye is a graduate of North Central High School and Purdue University.  She studied dance for 11 years under Elizabeth Farnsworth and Donna Lindenberg.  Favorite roles are “Guenevere” in Camelot, “Cinderella” in Into the Woods, and “Belinda Blair/Flavia Brent” in Noises Off.  Favorite choreographed shows are 42nd Street, Anything Goes, and La Cage Aux Folles.  She currently lives in North Little Rock, Arkansas with her husband Carl. She is thrilled to be a part of Indy Fringe!

Dane Rogers – Director

Dane is delighted to be joining the Father Ned crew for their first musical  venture into space! Recently he’s been keeping busy theatrically directing online performances for This Moment Productions, and performing as Colonel Mustard in Clue for Kirk Players in Chicago.  By day he’s a Simulation Specialist with Wright State Physicians. By night he’s an actor/musician/director.  Favorite roles:  Tick, tick…BOOM! (Jon),  Pippin (Leading Player), Last 5 Years (Jamie), All My Sons (George Dever), Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Picasso), Guys and Dolls (Nathan Detroit), and Oklahoma! (Curly), It’s a Wonderful Life Radio Play (George Bailey). He’d liked to thank Kate, Clerical Error Productions, and the cast who made his job easy. All my love to his Sarah who keeps me sane and encourages me to be better.

Jon Lindley – Father Ned Tully

Jon appeared at Lilly Theatre at The Children’s Museum (as Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow), Indianapolis Shakespeare Festival, InterAction Theatre, Genesis Theatre Company, and in over a dozen productions at Phoenix Theatre, including Reckless, Woman in Mind, Stuff Happens, and Some Men. Jon toured the U.S. and Canada with the groundbreaking Omaha Magic Theatre. On returning to Indiana, he began his own company, Pan-Arts Theatre, where he produced and directed challenging experimental works, including Struck Dumb and Hamletmachine.

MaryAnne Mathews – Cosmic Otter

MaryAnne is a writer, actor, and singer who performs her original play Mrs. President: A Visit With Mary Lincoln around the region. Appearances include Indiana: The Musical with Nickel Plate Players, Mother Ireland (co-written with Kate Duffy) at IndyFringe’s DivaFest, It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Show at Carmel, and as Maude in Harold and Maude in Westfield.
